Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3 rd , at 10:30 a.m . at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Barb Dinelli will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Jerry was born June 12, 1935 at LeMars, Iowa to Arthur & Lois (Sampson) Wolcott. He attended country school and graduated from Aurelia High School in 1953. He was married to Pauline Conley on January 22, 1961 at the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Tilden Township. Jerry worked for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad as a B & B Carpenter and Foreman and for the Chicago Central Railroad as a Foreman from 1968 until his retirement in July of 1995.
He as a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church and was the local chairman for the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees. He was a faithful volunteer for the Meals on Wheels Program. Jerry enjoyed antiques (buying and selling) for several years. He loved his children and grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed attending their activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Jack Wolcott, a sister Manetha in infancy and a grandson Zachery Smith.
He is survived by his wife Pauline of Cherokee, Iowa; two children: Jason Wolcott (Denise Gehling) of Tipton, Iowa; Tamra (Kirk) Smith of Spirit Lake, Iowa; 3 grandchildren: Jacob (Amanda), D.J. (Maggie Marker) & Chelsea Smith; 2 great grandchildren Zachary Smith and Brynlee Smith; a brother James (Virginia) Wolcott of Cherokee, Iowa; a sister Judith Lubrant of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister-in-law Edna Wolcott of Floyd, Iowa.
