JESSIE B. (SARGENT) TAYLOR, 68, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Tuesday evening, April 14, 2015 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 25th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jane Johnston will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. It was Jessie's wish to be cremated. There will be no visitation. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Jessie was born on September 25, 1946 at Cherokee, Iowa to Albert Sargent & Hazel Sargent Lloyd. She was married to John Sanders Sr. On December 13, 1962. She was later married to Larry Ganzevoort on August 14, 1966. She was married to Charles Dean Taylor on July 18, 1987. She had been a resident of the Cherokee area most of her life. Jessie was very strong in her faith. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crafts so much that she taught others how to do this. She also liked to read, dance and listen to music, especially Elvis Presley. She had a love for life and enjoyed sharing her life with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Albert Sargent and Hazel Sargent Lloyd, two husbands Larry Ganzevoort and Charles Dean Taylor, brother Ollie Sargent, and a niece Teresa Castillo.
She is survived by her four sons: John (Kim) Sanders of Victorville,CA.; Shawn Ganzevoort of Storm Lake, Iowa; Jeffery Ganzevoort of Cherokee, Iowa; Steven Ganzevoort and significant other Maria Portillo of Uhrichsville, OH; step-son Brandon Dean Taylor; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; 4 brothers and 5 sisters: Christine Sargent of Bloomfield, NE; Ronald (Roberta) Sargent of Storm Lake, IA; Alberta (Juan) Castillo of Deloit, IA; Wanetta Mitchell of Washta, IA; Donald Sargent of Storm Lake, IA; Harold (Rose) Lloyd of Spencer, IA; Ninon Lloyd and significant other Tony Davis of Newell, IA; Tina (Doug) Hansen of Storm Lake, IA; Gary & Heidi Lloyd of Storm Lake, IA; half siblings: Donna Heisler of Cherokee, IA; Jim Sargent; also many nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews.
