JOE LOUIS CASILLAS

Joe Louis Casillas, age 61 of Marcus, IA, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, IA. A come and go Celebration of Life visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Marcus, IA. Following visitation, Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion F.I. Goodburn Post 517 of Marcus, IA. Joe Louis Casillas, the son of Raymond and Benita (Aguilar) Casillas, was born March 14, 1964, in Odessa, TX. His childhood years were spent in Bakersfield, CA, where he attended school. Following his schooling, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He courageously served during two tours in Iraq and on in Fallujah. He was honorably discharged and retired from the military after 28 years of service.

On March 19, 1994, Joe was united in marriage to Christine Collins in Sioux City, IA. They resided in Marcus, IA, where he enjoyed woodworking, target shooting, and taking care of his cat. Most of all, he loved the time spent with family and friends.

On Sunday, December 21, 2025, Joe passed away at Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, IA, at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen, one brother, Pablo, and one sister, Terry.

He will lovingly be remembered by his wife, Christine Casillas; children, Ren Casillas, Niki Casillas, Chase Casillas, Lance Casillas, Brandi Casillas-Dunham, Rachel Bruneau, Hope Bruneau, and Jeremy Corbett; grandchildren: Alex, Jozalyn, Ian, Vicki, Jairo, Christopher, Marissa, Jazzmine, Julia, Jessica, Octavian, Ryette, Serenity, Aubrey, Kayden, and Sophia; 5 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Johnny, Linda, Christy, and Oscar.
