John A. Ehrich , 67, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away on Thursday evening, August 15, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his siblings.
Graveside memorial services will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Larry Ostercamp will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024 from 5:00 pm. To 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. John was born on October 16, 1956 to Floyd and Betty (Fishman) Ehrich at Cherokee, Iowa. He graduated from Washington High School in 1975. He worked at Wilson Foods after graduation for 13 years and then drove semi-truck cross country hauling hogs and cattle. He later worked in the Hy-Vee bakery and First Co-op in Holstein until his retirement in 2015.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
John had a keen sense of humor and remarkable generosity. He enjoyed motorcycling, flying, snowmobiling, and fishing. He had a love for cats and will be greatly missed by his two, Boogers and Corndog.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Betty Ehrich, grandparents Wilbur and Eva Fishman and Harry and Mae Ehrich, brothers-in-law Walt Bergman and Gary Putensen, and nephew Jon Putensen.
John is survived by his siblings, Don (Kim) Ehrich of Cherokee, Iowa, Nancy Putensen of Holstein, Iowa, and Barb (Chuck) Schmillen of Isle, Minnesota.
The family would like to send appreciation to Dewey Gravenish and Mike Olson, who helped so John could stay living at home and to Cherokee Regional Hospice for the good care they provided to him.
