Obituary

JOSEPH D. "JOE" McDONALD, 28, of rural Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away Saturday, afternoon October 30, 2010 in the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 5th, at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Carolyn Hollar will officiate. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Joe was born on January 5, 1982 at Iowa City, Iowa to Marvin D. & Tammy K. (Zupp) McDonald. He graduated from Cherokee Schools in 2000. He had worked for Tiefenthaler's in Holstein and for VT Industries in Holstein. Joe was married to Tasha Redding on December 15, 2007 in Cherokee, Iowa. He had lived in Cherokee, Holstein and was currently living in rural Ida Grove, Iowa. He enjoyed fishing, camping, target shooting and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his Maternal great grandparents Dale & Beatrice (Bachmann) Zupp, Paternal Grandparents Herbert & Doris McDonald, Uncle Val Gene Zupp and Uncle Kenneth McDonald.

He is survived by his wife Tasha of Ida Grove, Iowa; children: Randy Redding-McDonald and Nick Redding-McDonald of Ida Grove, Iowa; his mother Tammy Nelson and her husband Neal of Cherokee, Iowa; his father Marvin McDonald of Cherokee, Iowa; Maternal Grandparents Duane & Betty Zupp of Washta, Iowa; sister Amber Reichert of Marcus, Iowa; father-in-law Randy Bruning of Holstein, Iowa; brothers-in-law Justin Reichert of Lincoln, Nebraska, T.J. Conlon of Holstein, Iowa, Jamie Conlon of Ida Grove, Iowa; sister-in-law Cassandra Hoops of Ida Grove, Iowa; also several aunts, uncles, cousins and a niece and nephew.
