JUANITA  J.  ADAMSON , of Cherokee, Iowa, peacefully went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, January 9, 2022 surrounded by her children.  She was 92 years young.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oakdale Evangelical Free Church at rural Meriden, Iowa.  Pastor Tyler Stauffer will officiate.  Private family burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery, rural Cherokee, Iowa following the service.  Public visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com . The family requests those in attendance at the visitation and the funeral service to please wear masks. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made in Juanita's name for charities that were close to her heart.

The service will be livestreamed through the Oakdale Evangelical Church.

Juanita was born on July 3, 1929 to Howard and Jennie Manlove in Hibbing, Minnesota. After graduating from Wilson High School in St Paul, Minnesota in 1947, she attended Bethel College in St Paul. While there, she fell in love and married Sherwood Ohlson of Aurelia, Iowa in December 1948. They had two daughters, Sharman and Heidi. Sherwood died in 1959. Juanita married Darrell Adamson in 1960 who blessed her with a son, Mark. Three years later Blaine and Bruce were born. Darrell died in 1996.

Juanita loved being a homemaker and mother. Family was her greatest pride and joy. She walked closely with Jesus and was an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church for many years. Juanita loved music. She was an organist at church and an active member of Tone Circle. She had a heart of compassion and service and volunteered with hospice and Cherokee County Work Activity Center for many years. She was an active member of Christian Women's Club.

Juanita loved traveling, especially to visit her children. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren, traveling thousands of miles to spend time with them. She also was an avid reader and seamstress.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws and four of her siblings.

She is survived by her five children: Sharman and Dieter Wirtzfeld of San Diego, CA; Heidi and Tom O'Connor of Lincoln, NE; Mark Adamson of Cherokee, IA; Blaine and Audrey Adamson of Cherokee, IA; and Bruce and Julie Adamson of St Paul, MN and 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister Marilyn Bauerfeld of Hastings, Minnesota.
