JUNE A. RAPER, 90, of Sutherland, Iowa area passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 at Countryside Estates in Cherokee.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sutherland Church of Christ. Pastor John Erickson will officiate. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery at Peterson, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the Church on Friday. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

June was born June 26, 1925 at Pierson, Iowa, to Harry C. and Blanche (Pixler) Smith. She grew up in the Larrabee area. She graduated from Larrabee High School in 1943. She was married to John F. Raper on August 18, 1946 at Larrabee, Iowa. She was a devoted farm wife and enjoyed milking cows. She was a member of the Sutherland Church of Christ, was a beloved Sunday School nursery teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Ladies Farm Bureau and Christian Workers. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John in 1999, a daughter Linda Kay in infancy, brothers Oscar, Bert, Forrest, Ralph, and Earl Smith; sisters Pearl Dwyer, Eleanor Kintigh, and Bonnie McCannon.

She is survived by her children; Shirley (Chuck) Virgil of Sutherland, Iowa; Daniel (Kathy) Raper of Sutherland, Iowa; Sue (Randy) Spilker of Topeka, Kansas; Sharon (John) Schnackenberg of Libby, Montana; Laura (Rick) Lund of Grove City, Minnesota; 21 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren: Kevin & Lynn Virgil (Sam & Evie); Josh & Kate Virgil (Jackson, Kassidy & Ellie); David & Brandy Rapper (Blake & Emma); Karen & Dan Spray (Clayton, Ben & Timothy); Kate & Mark Drzycimski (Will, Liam, Abram, Josiah, Addie, Elias, James & Helen); Jimmy & Julianna Spilker; Stacy Spilker; Jonathan & Pam Spilker (Zailey, Colson & Brooks); Eric & Nikki Schnackenberg (Madelynn, Sam & Zane); Marcus & Kaila Schnackenberg (Emma & Oakley); Becky & Marty Solomon (Abigail & Zeke); Scott & Stefanie Schnackenberg (Titus & Barrett); Christopher Schnackenberg; Isaac & Anne Lund (Asher, Seth, Maggie & Evie); Andrew & Michelle Lund (Silas, Helen, Ingrid & Abram); Emilie, Reid, Dimitri, Aleona, Levi, & Joanie Lund; sister AnnaBelle McKenzie of Cherokee, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Jennie (Erv) Mogensen of Cleghorn, Iowa; Bonnie Raper of Cherokee, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
