JUNIOR F. BIERMAN, 86, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Monday afternoon, January, 16, 2017 in Cherokee Specialty Care.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jon Riggert will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa with military rites by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the Church on Friday. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Junior was born June 15, 1930 on the family farm in Tilden Township, Cherokee County, Iowa to Frank & Frieda (Neubauer) Bierman. He attended Grand Meadow School until he started farming with his father. He was married to Betty Ginger on November 6, 1951 at Vermillion, South Dakota. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Navy. He farmed all his life and also owned and operated Bierman Baling for many years, retiring and moving to Cherokee in 1998. Betty passed away on May 31, 2009. He married Dorothy Seel on January 14, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee and was a former member of the Trinity Lutheran Church south of Marcus, Iowa. He was a member of L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. In his retirement he worked at the Bonanza Car Wash for several years. Junior enjoyed his model train collection and his flower gardens, especially tending to the rose bushes and hostas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, brothers and sisters John and Wendell Bierman, Francis (Florence) Bierman, Fern (Ralph) Woltman, also several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy; his five children: Darwin Bierman and his wife Roxy of Creston, Iowa; Douglas Bierman and his wife Pat of Eldridge, Iowa; Mark Bierman and his wife Teri of Effingham, Illinois; Penny Bierman of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Peggy Hinkhouse and her husband Rich of Cherokee, Iowa; 9 grandchildren: Justin (Molly) Bierman, Holly (Tony) Parsons, Tom Bierman, Jarret (Tena) Bierman, Brooke (Jeremy) Boysen, Linzi Bierman, Lee Bierman, Sam Hinkhouse and Mikki Hinkhouse; 9 great grandchildren: Jacob & William Bierman, Trinity & Jerzee Bierman, Macie Gum, Kate & Charlie Parsons, Carter & Kate Boysen; sisters: Dorris Kintigh of Cherokee, Iowa; Florence Ritchey of McComb, Illinois; sisters-in-law: Marion Ginger of Primghar, Iowa; Mary Bumann of Cherokee, Iowa; Gwen Bierman of Kingsley, Iowa; his extended family: Lynn Walker and her husband Dick of Johnston, Iowa; Marla Essick and her husband Steve of Cherokee, Iowa; John Seel and his wife Kim of Norwalk, Iowa; Roger Seel and his wife Peggy of Cherokee, Iowa; Dorothy's 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; also several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins
