Katherine June Malcolm, age 63 of Moville, IA, and formerly of Cherokee, IA, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025, at her residence in Moville. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the Meriden Evangelical Free Church in Meriden, IA. Pastor Larry Ostercamp will officiate. Burial will be held at a lager date. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. The Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.greenwoodfuneral.com.
Katherine June Malcolm, the daughter of Betty Rodgers (Hemler), was born on March 20, 1962 in Commerce City, CO. Her childhood years were spent in Commerce City where she received her education. Following school, she spent a year in Rockford, IL. After that, she moved to Reno, NV, and eventually Indianapolis, IN. It is there that she met the love of her life, Anthony Ross. After 10 years in Indianapolis, they moved to Akron, IA. During that time, they were blessed with one daughter, Elizabeth.
In 1996, they moved to Cherokee, IA, where she worked for Bill's Bottles and Cans, the Best Western, and had a paper route. Most recently, she had worked at Carey's Café and Fareway.
Katherine enjoyed reading, crafting, and spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of the Meriden Evangelical Free Church and was involved with many church organizations-including White Cross, Shepherd's Table, and was an AWANA leader. She also went to Haiti two separate times serving on missions trips through MEFC.
On Thursday, June 26, 2025, Katherine passed away unexpectedly at her home in Moville, IA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Rodgers; Elizabeth's father, Anthony Ross; and two brothers, Irvin Pulfrey, Jr. and Casey Pulfrey.
She will lovingly be remembered by her daughter, Elizabeth Ross of Moville, IA; brother, Jim Drapeau of Commerce City, CO; sisters, Linda Kelso of Pleasant Valley, MO; Audrey Hamby of LaPorte, CO; and Jo Martin of Russell Springs, KY; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
