Obituary

KATHRYN E. "KATIE" SCHNOES, 81, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Friday evening, February 17, 2012 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Ethan Sayler will officiate. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 20th from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Katie was born on January 5, 1931 to Buell "Pooch" & Jessie (Anderson) Traver at Primghar, Iowa. She attended Paullina Community School and graduated in 1948. She was united in marriage on April 19, 1952 to John Schnoes. They lived in Paullina Iowa until 1960 when they moved to Cherokee, Iowa. She worked for the Paullina Telephone as a switchboard operator, was bookkeeper for Schnoes Texaco & Repair and worked at Berkheimer's Studio. She was a member of adult bowling league, co-head of Junior Youth League Bowling, funeral committee at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee and helped with Sermons ala Cart. Katie was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoyed puzzles, embroidery, bowling and playing cards. She enjoyed spending summers at Ottertail Lake, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John on December 10, 2001 and a brother William (Bud) Traver.

Katie is survived by three sons: Mark & Pamela Schnoes of Paullina, Iowa; Dean & Brenda Schnoes of Elkhorn, Iowa; Brian & Michele Schnoes of Meriden, Iowa; 5 grandchildren: Chris Schnoes of Elkhorn, Iowa; Michael (Elizabeth) Schnoes of Ida Grove, Iowa; Jennifer (Cody) Ohlendorf of Remsen, Iowa; Sara (Travis) Ginger of Paullina, Iowa and Amy Schnoes of Starbuck, Minnesota; 8 great grandchildren: Conley & Bryn Ginger; Courtlyne Schnoes; EmmaJean, Jonathan & GracieMae Ohlendorf; Kaylee Schnoes and step-great grandson Matthew DeWitt; sister: LaVonna (Bonnet) Winter of Wenatchee, Washington.
