KATHRYN J. OHLSON, 94, of Cherokee, formerly of rural Meriden, Iowa passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Accura Healthcare in Cherokee, Iowa.

It was Kathryn's wish to be cremated.  There will be a celebration of life of on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 11:00  a.m. at Meriden Evangelical Free Church.  Pastor Larry Ostercamp will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Kathryn's name to the Meriden Evangelical Free Church.

Kathryn was born on October 26, 1927 to Pete and Selma (Dahlgren) Pearson at Cherokee, Iowa.  She attended Cleghorn Schools, graduating in 1945.  She then went to Samuel's School of Beauty and graduated in 1946.  She became a hairdresser and worked for a year in Sioux City, Iowa.

She was married to Keith Ohlson on February 11, 1950, together they had three children, Tim, Craig, and Drew.  Kathryn worked on assisting with Keith with anything on the farm and spent her days taking care of the boys.

Kathryn was a member of the Oakdale Free Church and then the Meriden Evangelical Free Church.

She loved to garden and taking care of her beautiful flowers. Keith and Kathryn spent over 32 years in Pharr, Texas in their winter home. They loved winters together spent in the warm weather. She enjoyed participating in all of the different activities at the park.  Kathryn created many great friendships in the South.  She cherished her time with her birthday club for over 60 years.  Her friends and family meant the world to her and she enjoyed all the times spent with them.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Keith in 2010 and her sister and brother-in-law Helen and Edward Mcracken.

She is survived by her children, Tim (Holly) Ohlson of Meriden, Iowa, Craig (Sandy) Ohlson of Rainbow, California, and Drew Ohlson of Colorado; six grandchildren, Matthew (Tina) Ohlson, Melanie (Kyle) Flanagan, Micaela Ohlson, Madison Ohlson, Aaron Ohlson, and Lauren Marsh; seven great-grandchildren, Raeonna, Lilly, Ayla, Brecken, Declan, Quinn, and Kade; nieces Barb, Margie, Carol, and kids; sister-in-law, Ardythe (Michael) Urban, and Betty Ohlson; many nieces and nephews.
