KENNETH "BUD" HOEPPNER, longtime rural Washta, Iowa resident passed away Thursday morning, June 19, 2014 in the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23rd, at 10:30 a.m.at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby, Iowa. Pastor Don Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in Quimby Cemetery. There will be military rites at graveside by Lyle W. Barnes Post #398 of the Quimby American Legion and L. A. Wescott Post #2253 Veterans of Foreign Wars. There will be a family prayer service at 10 a.m. at the church on Monday. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Bud was born August 15, 1927 in Cherokee, Iowa to Carl and Goldie (Clark) Hoeppner.
He graduated from Washta High School in 1944. He enlisted in the United States Navy on August 8, 1945, serving in WW II, being discharged on August 14, 1946 as a Fireman First Class. He was married to Alice Fee on January 21, 1951 at Quimby, Iowa. Bud worked for Farmers Hybrid, farmed and raised livestock. He retired in 2004. He was a member of the Pilgrim Lutheran Church, American Legion, and the Quimby Town & Country Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Bud loved sharing the fun of farm life with his grandchildren and friends that would stop at the farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and her husband Roma & Arlo Beazley.
He is survived by his wife Alice; a son Stephen Hoeppner and his wife Ann of Sioux City, Iowa; a daughter Twila Woolworth and her husband Dave of Laguna Hills, California; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren: Katie Hoeppner; Dustin (Deanna) Woolworth and their children Marley and Logan; Calvin Langschwager and Dakota Woolworth.
