KEVIN GERALD CAREY

Kevin Gerald Carey, age 55 of Cherokee, IA, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025, at an Omaha hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA. Father Dan Rupp will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Kevin Gerald Carey, son of David and Carol (Tentinger) Carey was born on August 31, 1969, in Cherokee, IA. He attended Cherokee schools and graduated from Cherokee Washington High School. Kevin continued his education for a year at Iowa Lakes Community College.

Kevin was known for keeping his vehicles spotless, including his lawn mowers. He enjoyed being outdoors. Kevin's passion was fishing, camping and kayaking. He owned and operated Northland Lawn Service in Cherokee where he could spend his days outdoors helping others.

Kevin passed away on February 15, 2025, at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. He was preceded in death by his dad, David Carey; son, Tyler Carey; infant son, Skyler Carey; sister, Julie (Carey) Bradstreet; brother, Rick Mattioda; brother-in-law, John Bradstreet and grandparents, Gerald and Gladys Carey and Roman and Lucille Tentinger.

Left to cherish Kevin's memory are his daughter, Aubree (Brandon) Seldecki; son, Kyle Carey; mother, Carol Carey; sister, Trudy (Chad) Pedersen; brothers, Chad (Kelli) Carey, and Jay (Lyndsey) Carey; many nieces and nephews and other friends.
