KIM JEANETTE POWERS, 60, of Meriden, Iowa, passed away Saturday morning, March 4, 2017 in the Cherokee Specialty Care.
Visitation and a time of sharing memories will be held on Saturday, March 11th, at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon with the family present at that time. Kim was born on November 10, 1956 at Waterloo, Iowa to Cecil and Veris (Fogleman) Hammond. She had been a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada for over 20 years, where she worked as a blackjack dealer at the Plaza Hotel Casino. Kim and her life partner Dennis Altman, retired and relocated to Meriden, Iowa in 1996. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers George and Richard Hammond; a sister Deanna Faye Hammond; brothers-in-law Bob Brown and Bob Beck.
She is survived by her life partner Dennis Altman of Meriden, Iowa; brothers: Gordon (Donna) Hammond of Cherokee, Iowa; John (Dorrie) Hammond of Ellsworth, Kansas; Steve (Margaret) Hammond of Simi Valley, California; sisters: Carol Beck of Cherokee, Iowa; Koreen (Bud) Tharpe of Cherokee, Iowa; Patti Brown of Las Vegas, Nevada; Peggy Nagel of Cherokee, Iowa; also many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
