LaMerne A. Marsh, 100, of Washta, Iowa, passed away, Wednesday evening, October 14, 2015 in the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 17th at 10:30 a.m. at the Washta United Methodist Church. Rev. Cris Decious will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset View Cemetery at Washta, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. LaMerne was born on May 26, 1915 in Cherokee County, Iowa to Purl & Faye (Strickling) Fogleman. She graduated from Washta Community School in1933. She was married to Fred D. Marsh on February 14, 1934 at Schaller, Iowa. She had worked as a cook for the Washta Community Schools for many years. LaMerne was a a member of the Washta United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Washta Cemetery Association, card clubs and neighborhood clubs. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, traveling, playing scrabble, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fred in 1984, a son Ronald Marsh in 1971, son-in-law James "Jim" Baumann, a grandson Jeffery David Baumann, two brothers and seven sisters.
She is survived by a daughter: Connie Baumann of Washta, Iowa; 3 grandchildren: Michael Baumann of Washta, Iowa; Jerri Hunt of Cherokee, Iowa, Deb (Scott) Koch of Cherokee, Iowa; 7 great grandchildren: Melanie (Rod) Hedberg, Ashley Hunt, Tony Hunt, Jon Hunt, Samantha Koch, Jared (Kayla) Koch, Matt (Alison) Koch; 4 great great grandchildren: Addison & Connor Hedberg, Jadyn & Alix Etim; also many nieces and nephews.
