Obituary

LARRY J. ALLEN, 62, of May City, Iowa passed away Saturday morning, July 2, 2011 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Graveside memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 5th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cedar Cemetery at Larrabee, Iowa. Rev. Paul Johnson of May City, Iowa will officiate. There will be military rites at the graveside by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. Abiding by Larry's wishes, his remains were cremated. There will be no visitation. Larry was born on October 11, 1948 at Albuquerque, New Mexico to Scotty & Bobbie (Peeples) Allen. He graduated from La Mirada High School in California in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971 during the Vietnam War being discharged as a Sergeant . Larry was married to Rhonda Klatt in 1986 in California. He had worked for the Motorola Co. in Arizona from 1980 until 1984. He had lived in May City, Iowa since 1991 and prior to this had lived in Hollywood, Calif. for several years. He was affiliated with the St. John's Lutheran Church in May City. Larry enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by a daughter: Heidi Allen-Hotz and her husband William of Cherokee, Iowa and their three children Jade, Felicity and Liam Hotz; a son Lanny Allen of May City, Iowa; his mother Bobbie Allen of Sheldon, Iowa; a sister Brenda Tobin and her husband Mike of Acton, California; a brother Mark Boswell of Sanborn, Iowa.
