LARRY W. MAXWELL, 73, of Calumet, formerly of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 in the Cherokee Specialty Care.
Funeral services will be held on Friday. August 28, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jean Morse will officiate. Burial will be made in the Afton Township Cemetery in rural Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at Boothby Funeral Home on Friday. Visitation will be held at the Boothby Funeral Home on Thursday August 27th from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Please practice social distancing and masks WILL be required. Larry was born on June 23, 1947 at Battle Creek, Iowa to Duane and Ina (Sales) Maxwell. He attended Battle Creek Schools and later graduated from high school in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1965. He attended and graduated with a mechanical degree from Northwest Community College in Sheldon in 1984. Larry was married to Pamela Ruge on December 16, 1999. He had worked at Cold Storage in Cherokee, owned a mechanic shop Town and Country Auto in Sutherland, and also worked for Ron Jalas in Sutherland and C-S Agrow in Calumet.
He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. He enjoyed horses, race cars, spending time with his family, grandchildren and his great grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Pam Maxwell, several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his special friend Kathy Igou of Calumet, Iowa, his children, Rick (Tammy) Walker of Menasha, Wisconsin, Larry Joe Maxwell of Webster City, Iowa, Tracy Maxwell (Michelle) of Granville, Iowa, Kris (Kevin) Van Roekel of Cherokee, Iowa, an honorary daughter, Michelle Stough of Cherokee, Iowa, seven grandchildren, Cameron and Alissa Maxwell, Taylor Jo Maxwell, Amanda, Jake, Jeremy, and April Van Roekel, two honorary grandchildren, Addisyn and Amara Connor, and five great grandchildren, Landen, Nathan, Katrina, Ryver, and Kayden.
