LARRY L. REINERT, 76, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Wednesday morning, July 5, 2017 in Unity Point Health-St. Luke's in Sioux City, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 8th, at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jean Morse will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be in the Holy Name Catholic Cemetery at Marcus, Iowa. There will be military rites at the cemetery by L.A.Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. Larry was born on February 22, 1941 to Lawrence & Bernetta (Boothby) Reinert. He attended Marcus Schools. Larry was a veteran serving in the United States Navy. He was married to Joy Bierman on December 3, 1962 at Marcus, Iowa. He had worked construction, had been a plumber, and in 1968 started Larry's Radiator Shop in Cherokee and operated this until his retirement in 2015. He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, fishing, hunting, golfing, and loved attending the Thrashers Convention in Albert City each year. Larry was a member of the Cherokee Ridgerunners and looked forward to their rendezvous each year. He was also a member of the V.F.W.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Meredith (Reinert) Schroeder.
He is survived by his two sons: Michael Reinert of Cherokee, Iowa; David Reinert of Cherokee, Iowa; four grandchildren: Zachary Perkins, Shelby Perkins, Hannah Reinert and Justyne Reinert; his sisters and brothers: Judy Reinert (Jerry Lubben) of Remsen, Iowa; LeRoy (Sandy) Reinert of Loveland, Ohio; Terry Reinert of Branson, Missouri; Becky (Rusty) Bentzinger of Pella, Iowa; also several nieces nephews and cousins.
