LARRY L. "HUMMER"  STEWARD, 76, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 31st at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Father Dan Rupp will officiate. Burial will be held in the Mount Calvary Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa.  Visitation with the family present will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Following visitation, there will be a time for celebrating Larry at Jobie's Pastime in Cherokee, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to them for a future project in Larry's honor.

Larry was born on September 1, 1949 to Lloyd and Margaret (Unkrur) Steward at Cherokee, Iowa.  He graduated from Washington High School in 1968.

He was employed at Lundell Construction for 44 years and worked for Jim's Sewer Service and was still working until September 4, 2025.

He was affiliated with the Catholic Church.

Larry was an extremely hard worker and enjoyed going to work.  He like attending the stock car races and playing cards. He rarely missed a Thursday or Saturday drawing at the Brightside, where he enjoyed a beer with his friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Mike Steward, sister Marilyn Steward, brothers-in-law Leon Chase and Mike Robinson, sister-in-law Denise Steward, nephew Rodney Robinson, and special friend Margaret Koerner.

He is survived by his 3 children Jamie Steward, Wendy Soule, and Cory Steward; 6 grandchildren;  siblings Kenny (Donna) Steward, Gerri Robinson, Susan Chase, Marc Steward, Danny (Barb) Steward, and Pete Steward; Margaret's children and grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews, and friends.
