LAURA  "LOLLY"  ROBERTS, 95, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Sunday morning, October 5, 2025 at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 11:00  a.m. at the Washta Church of Faith. Visitation with the family present will take place prior to service at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with the arrangements. Lolly was born on February 20, 1930 at Sioux City, Iowa to Fred & Esther (Olson) Hallstrom. She graduated from University High School in Vermillion, South Dakota. She had worked at the Central Bank in Washta, Iowa for a short time. Lolly was married to William "Bill" Roberts on December 18, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa. She enjoyed working on the farm with her husband, helping out wherever she was needed. She raised puppies, dressed and sold broiler chickens, baked and decorated cakes, did some catering when she had time, along with raising her three children. Lolly enjoyed taking cooking classes to further her knowledge in the kitchen. She shared her love for others through her delicious baking.

Lolly loved to play cards and belonged to several bridge clubs. She also liked to go fishing with her husband, do cross stitch and needlepoint, play golf in Marcus, and spend time with family.

Lolly was a member of the Quimby United Methodist Church where she had been active in several of the women's groups over the years. She had been a resident of the Cherokee area since 1957 and prior to this lived in Washta, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill in 2021, her siblings Darold (Margaret) Hallstrom, Daniel (Kathryn) Hallstrom, Doris (Raymond) Rhoten, Sylvia (Edward) Lord, Robert (Elaine) Hallstrom, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Betty (Gayle) Samuelson, Faith (James Dasher) Varvil, Mary (Earl) Gum, Helen (Merlyn) Carstens, and LaVon Roberts.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children: James (Judy Larsen ) Roberts of Washta, Iowa, Alan (Sharon Bruhn) Roberts of Emmetsburg, Iowa, and Lynnette (Greg) Harter of Waterloo, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Chris (Daphne) Roberts, Becky (Mark) Scherbring, Katie Press, Scott Roberts, Sara (Ryan) Stull, Daniel (Irena) Harter, and Lauren (Mark) Hartwell; eight great-grandchildren Mackenzie (Sam) Callahan, Alex (Sarah) Roberts, Sophie, Clayton, and Tyler Scherbring, Lily Roberts, Cayden and Aubrey Stull; one brother-in-law Bob Roberts of Cherokee, Iowa; also many nieces and nephews.
