LaVon A. Roberts,  88, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 23, 2025 at her residence in Cherokee, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Pastor Jonathan Riggert will officiate.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa.  Visitation with the family present will take place on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

LaVon was born on August 15, 1936 to Henry and Irene (Lepper) Peck.  She attended Cherokee Schools and was a part of the first graduating class from Washington High School in 1954.  She was united in marriage to Bob Roberts on August 31, 1956 at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, Iowa.  They were blessed with five children.

She worked various jobs in Cherokee until becoming a founding partner of MARK Crop insurance, retiring in the early 2000's.

Her love of the outdoors and traveling led her and Bob to countless adventures and fishing trips often with lifelong friends, Chuck and Evelyn Black.  They traveled across the United States including two trips to Alaska, which she spoke of often.  Family was her greatest treasure.  A perfect night for her included tacos with the family, Busch Light, and a competitive game of cards. She was the life of the party with her sense of humor and quick wit. LaVon also enjoyed bird watching, penny slots at the casino, and her card clubs.  Whatever game she played, she was in it to win.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, David Roberts and Jon Roberts, sisters Charlotte (Max)Hinrichs, Shirley (Harold) Nation, Marilyn George-Storbeck (Paul George and John Storbeck) , and brother Carroll (Irene)Peck.

LaVon will be lovingly remembered by her husband Bob Roberts of Cherokee, Iowa; children Dan (Kelley) Roberts of Norfolk, Nebraska, Lori (Kirk) Ebel of Cherokee, Iowa, and Kelly (Mike) Pitts of Cherokee, Iowa; daughter-in-law Sheryl Roberts of Tabor, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren with another due in May,  Nate (Mandy) Roberts and their son Cash, Abby  (Jeff) Howenstein and their children Benjamin, Noah, Thomas, Lindy, and Isabelle, Amy (Patrick) Roberts-Campbell and their daughter due in May, Eric (Megan) Roberts, Ryan Ebel, Katie (Corey) Carlton and their children Landry, Walker, and Emma, Cole (Shelly Cruzen) Ebel, Matt Pitts, Adam (Karley) Pitts, Andy Pitts, Mason (fiancé Lauren Matthey) Pitts, and Molly (Jaxon Baumgartner) Pitts;  a special nephew, Ronnie, whom she felt was like a brother to her; also many nieces and nephews.
