LEO C. ALQUIST JR., 75, of Mountain Home, Arkansas and former Cleghorn area resident, passed away Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 1st, at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Dr. Delmar Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery, rural Meriden, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Leo was born April 23, 1935 in Mobridge, South Dakota, the son of Leo C. Alquist Sr. and Pearl Meyer Alquist. He was married to Linda Telford on December 26, 1961 in Seattle, Washington. He worked as a farmer and rancher before moving to Mountain Home in 1998 from Cleghorn. Leo was a peacetime veteran U. S. Army veteran. He had served as township clerk, a 4-H leader and member of teh school board in South Shore, South Dakota. He also drove school bus for the Meriden-
Cleghorn-Marcus school district.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of Mountain Home, one son Jerry (Kelli) Alquist of Dolph, Arkansas; two daughters, Julie Kay (Mark) Berg of Lino Lakes, Minnesota; and Desiree (Scott) Hicks of Flippin, Arkansas; 7 grandchildren, one great granddaughter and one brother Dennis (Lois) Alquist of Meriden, Iowa
