LILLIAN V. JOHNSON, 94, of Cherokee and former Storm Lake resident passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Countryside Estates in Cherokee.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 14th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jeff Harris will officiate. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery, rural Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday. Lillian was born January 26, 1919 in Cherokee, Iowa to Anton and Helga Hanson. She graduated from Wilson High School in Cherokee with the Class of 1936. She was married to Carl E. Johnson on November 18, 1943 at Alta, Iowa. The couple farmed in Silver Township for 38 years. They retired and moved to Storm Lake in 1986. Lillian moved to Cherokee two years ago and entered Country Side Estates in January of 2012. She was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She had done house cleaning for several families and also enjoyed babysitting for the neighborhood families. She loved raising flowers and gardening. She shared her strawberries and raspberries with many of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl E. Johnson on November 21, 2004, a son Dennis Ray Johnson on July 28, 1953, two brothers Bill and Glen Hanson and a sister Helen Lease.
She is survived by two sons: Jim Johnson and his wife Jo of Cherokee, Iowa; Richard Johnson and his wife Sherri of Cherokee, Iowa; 5 grandchildren: Missi Rogge and her husband J.D. of Cherokee, Iowa; Jason (Jennifer) Johnson of Cherokee, Iowa; Rachel (Curt) Fredericksen of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; Erica Johnson of Sioux City, Iowa; Kayla (Jeff) Linn of Cherokee, Iowa; 8 great grandchildren: London Jo Rogge and Trapper James Rogge; Emma Kay and Ali Fredericksen; Colt Johnson; Linsay, Abigail and Lucas Linn.
