LILLIAN A. PETERSON, 92, longtime Aurelia, Iowa resident, passed away Saturday morning, November 15, 2014 surrounded by her family at the Sunset Knoll Care & Rehab Center at Aurelia, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 19th, at 11 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee. Pastor Jean Morse will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 at the church on Wednesday at the church. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Lillian was born on December 16, 1921 in Charlestown Township, Redwood County, Minnesota to Claus & Esther (Johnson) Nord. She graduated from Storden High Schhool in 1939. She was married to Maurice G. Peterson on December 11, 1942 at Dakota City, Nebraska. Lillian was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Women of E.L.C.A. and was very active in many other parts of her church. She belonged to a bridge club. She enjoyed quilting, puzzles, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Maurice on March 15, 1994, two brothers Melvin and Donald Nord; two sisters Mildred palmer and Delores Smith.
She is survived by her four children: C.A. "Al" (Vicky) Peterson of Cherokee, Iowa; Randy (Pam) Peterson of Seagoville, Texas; Debra (Dave) Kock of Carroll, Iowa; Donna (Clark) Doherty of Aurelia, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and one brother: Kenneth Nord of Storm Lake, Iowa; also several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
