LINDA J. SIMMONS, 71, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Sunday night, May 31, 2026, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Holstein, Iowa.

Linda was born on August 15, 1954 to Donald and Wilma (Walters) Hagan at LeMars, Iowa. She graduated from high school in 1973. She was united in marriage to Craig Lester in 1979 in Salina, Kansas. She later married Gary Simmons. She worked as a CNA at nursing homes around the Cherokee area.

In her free time , Linda enjoyed camping during the summer with Gary and their dogs. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting pottery and outdoor signs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, brothers Steven Hagan and Richard Hagan, niece Sara Hagan and nephew Donald Walters Jr.

Linda is survived by her daughter Alecia and Stan Maurer of Cherokee, Iowa; two grandchildren Alexx and Jordan Maurer of Shawnee, Kansas and Hailee Maurer of Cherokee, Iowa; one great grandson Maxwell Maurer of Shawnee, Kansas; sister Robin Bush of Cherokee, Iowa; nieces and nephews Shannon and Matt Scott of Cedar Rapids, Melissa Hagan of Chicago, Illinois, Chester and Melissa Bush of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Aaron and Kayla Bush of Aurelia, Iowa; also many great nieces and nephews.
