LLOYD J. MORET, 72, of Washta, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Cherokee Specialty Care in Cherokee.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.   Pastor Barb Dinelli will officiate.   Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service on Saturday at Boothby Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Sheridan Township Cemetery at Boyden, Iowa at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 24.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

The family requests memorials be made in Lloyd's name to the Washta United Methodist Church.

Lloyd was born on June 22, 1950 at Sheldon, Iowa to William H. and Leona (Boone) Moret. He attended Cherokee Schools, graduating from Washington High School in 1969.  Lloyd then attended Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City obtaining a meat cutting degree.

He worked as a farm hand and at the Cleghorn Locker.  Lloyd also worked for Simonsen's Rendering in Quimby, Iowa , until his retirement in 2005.

He was a member of the Washta United Methodist Church.

Lloyd loved playing bingo, going to the casino, playing scratch off tickets, visiting with family, playing cards, and Yahtzee.  His favorite song was "Jesus Loves Me".

He was preceded in death by his parents, William in 2005 and Leona in 2015; infant brother in 1957; brother-in-law Bounsom Lavon; sister-in-law, Jean Moret, and nephews, Brian and Alan Moret.

Llyod is survived by his siblings, Linda (Roger) Groves of Sioux City, Iowa Dennis (Cindy) Moret of Sioux City, Dave Moret of Washta, Iowa, Sheryl Hofer of Sioux City, Iowa, Richard (Michelle) Moret of South Sioux City, Nebraska, Clyde (Carla) Moret of Windom, Minnesota, Laura (Russ) Schmidt of Cherokee, Iowa, and Lisa (Bob) Mitchell of Fort Dodge, Iowa; also numerous nieces and nephews.
