LOGAN ALAN PATTERSON, 69, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Monday morning, January 2, 2017 at his residence.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 7th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee. Rev. Eric Wright will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee with military rites by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home. Alan was born on March 19, 1947 at Cherokee, Iowa to Ralph & Martha (Phipps) Patterson. He graduated from Cherokee Washington High School in 1965. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in August of 1965 and served one tour of duty during the Vietnam War, being honorably discharged in August of 1969. He was married to Tamara Hoxsie on January 29, 1966 at Paletine, California. He had farmed in Cherokee County and operated a grain elevator from 2000 until 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Tamara, two children; Michelle Lundy of Omaha, Nebraska; Logan Michael (Amy) Patterson of Cherokee, Iowa; 4 grandchildren: Nicholas Lundy, Rayann, Emma, and Logan Paul Patterson; his siblings, Frances "Micky" (Jerry) Conley of Cherokee, Iowa; Mark (Becky) Patterson of Cherokee, Iowa; Margaret (Roger) Woltman of Cherokee, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.
