LOIS I. BURKHARDT, 92, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Marshall Parks will officiate.  Visitation with the family present will take place on Monday, December 1, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Lois was born on April 14, 1933 at Iowa City, Iowa.  She grew up in rural Alta and attended Fairview School.  She graduated in 1951 and then attended Buena Vista College.

She was united in marriage on November 21, 1954 to Donald H. Burkhardt  at the Presbyterian Church in Alta, Iowa.  She began working at Wilson Foods in 1965 and was employed there until her retirement.  In her retirement years, she worked at Faith, Hope, and Charity.

She was a member of the Siouxland Antique Dealer's Association, a member of the original board of North Star Community Credit Union, and a member of the Cherokee Saddle Club.

In her free time, she enjoyed collecting antiques, cooking, and cherished any time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elinor Molgaard, husband Donald H. Burkhardt, son Harry Burkhardt, and sister Barbara Mallison.

Lois will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children Debbie (Dan) Williams of St. Marys, Iowa, Bill (Karen) Burkhardt of Cherokee, Iowa, Blaine (Donna) Burkhardt of Cherokee, Iowa, Donise (Bryon) Raper of Cherokee, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, Jeff (LeAnn) Burkhardt and their children Jada and Wyatt, Jessica Anderson and her sons Xavier, Xander and Xaylan, Justin McFadden and his daughter Mykayla, Alicia (Marshall) Parks, and their daughters Leita, Savannah, and Eloise, Michael Burkhardt, Katie  Burkhardt, Ben Raper, Ashley (Collin) Christensen and their daughters Alivia and Avery, Kelsey (Kyle) Kepplinger and their daughter Kylie, and Weston (Katie) Burkhardt and their sons Elias and Noah; daughter-in-law Rita Burkhardt.
