DR. LON L. (LONNIE) EDWARDS, 73, of Princeton, Indiana, and formerly of the Correctionville, Iowa area passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 24th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Tom Lewis will officiate. There will be military rites at the graveside by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with the arrangements. Lon was born on April 24, 1943 at Cherokee, Iowa to H.O. "Red" & Lottie May (Gregg) Edwards. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, being honorably discharged in 1968. He attended Morningside College, University of South Dakota and graduated in 1977 from Palmer College of Chiropractic.
Lon loved to garden, he was an exceptional woodworker, and a top notch mechanic. After moving to Princeton in 1978, he and Cookie opened Edwards Chiropractic Center in Princeton, where he practiced for 35 years. Kelly Paddick worked for over 30 years as his office manager and Phyllis Stewart for 20 years as therapist. He was very appreciative of their loyal service to him and his patients.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a niece Heather Edwards, nephews Steven Roberts, Scott Wyborny, and Stephen Boyd.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Cookie; brother Denny (Wendy) Edwards; sisters Karen Gray and Janie (Ken) Fedde; sisters-in-law Donna Jones, Sandy Wyborny; brothers-in-law Glenn (Irene) Boyd and Bill (Jolene) Boyd; nephews Lance (Heidi) Edwards, Cory (Heather) Edwards, Dabvid (Rhonda) Jones, Dallas (Ann) Jones, Rick (Judy) Wyborny, Mark Wyborny, Brant (Amy) Boyd, Benjamin Boyd , and Jim Boyd.
