LORACE R. GREGG, 83, of rural Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025 at CHI Health Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakdale Evangelical Free Church in Meriden, Iowa. Pastors Andy Brown and Tyler Stauffer will officiate. Visitation will take place on Tuesday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Burial will be in the Cedar Cemetery at rural Larrabee, Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com. Services will be livestreamed through the Oakdale Evangelical Free Church website.

Lorace was born on October 11, 1941 to Raymond and Emily (Gilbert) Gregg at Cherokee, Iowa. He graduated from Aurelia High School in 1960. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard.
He was united in marriage on March 3, 1968 to Kathleen Gibson at Meriden Evangelical Free Church. He was later married to Arta Bakker on May 31, 1986 at Luverne, Minnesota.
Lorace was a farmer, raising both cattle and crops.
He was a member of Meriden Evangelical Free Church, where he served as the church treasurer and various other offices and later joined the Oakdale Evangelical Free Church. He served for 27 years on the CML Telephone Board.
He enjoyed spending his free time with his family and working on computers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Emily Gregg, first wife Kathy Gregg, brothers Orville Gregg and Vernon Gregg, and brother-in-law Ralph Sudbeck.
He is survived by his wife, Arta of rural Cherokee, Iowa, children Vance and Susan Gregg of Cherokee, Iowa, Kellie and Stu Hogg of Cleghorn, Iowa, Rosann and Matt Trahms of Dalton, Wisconsin, and David and Holly Bakker of Cherokee, Iowa; 11 grandchildren Raymond Gregg, Megan (Nate) Finch, Allison Gregg, Elspeth, Eoin, and Eibhlin Hogg, Jack Trahms, James (Avery) Trahms, Emma Trahms, and Anna Trahms, Luke (Jade) Bakker; 4 great grandchildren Jason Finch, Paislee, Hadlee, and Blaire Bakker; sister Clara Subeck of Ames, Iowa, sisters-in-law, Marlys Gregg, Ellen Gregg, and Francine Hamil; also several nieces and nephews.
