LOUISE DUNN, 99, of Spencer, Iowa and former Okoboji and Cherokee resident, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa.
Louise was born November 30, 1909 at Larrabee, Iowa to Albert and Martha (Kumleh) Denslow. She graduated from Larrabee High School and then worked as a monument designer for Holden Monument Co. in Cherokee, Iowa. She was married to James Dunn on November 24, 1933 at Clarinda, Iowa. Louise lived in Cherokee until the couple retired, moving to West Lake Okoboji and spending winters in Nokomis, Florida where Louise taught bridge classes. She was a lifetime member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church, a member of the Garden Club and a 71 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was known for her flower arrangements and bridge playing skills, was an avid reader, but her home and family came first.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Dunn on April 21, 1980, and a grandson Mitchell Dunn.
She is survived by two sons: James Dunn of Plano, Texas; Charles Dunn and his wife Diane of Spirit Lake, Iowa; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A private burial was made in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee has charge of the arrangements. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
