Obituary

LUELLA L. SONES, 81, of Cherokee, Iowa, formerly of Quimby, passed away Saturday morning, December 4, 2010 in the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 8th, at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Carolyn Hollar will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1 p.m until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home. Following the services, cremation will take place and burial of the ashes will be in the Quimby Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Luella was born on March 10, 1929 at Meriden, Iowa to Harlan & Thelma (Smith) Sexton. She was married to Dewitt "Bud" Sones on March 28, 1953 at Spencer, Iowa. She was a resident of Cherokee and before that, was a long time resident of Quimby. She and her husband owned and operated the Tall Corn Inn in Quimby for several years and retired in 1980. Luella enjoyed putting together puzzles and doing crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers Wayne, Delbert and Edward Sexton, 2 sisters Marion Ruring and Harlene Roles.

She is survived by her husband Bud; 2 sons: Steve Sones and his wife Linda of Quimby, Iowa; Gene Sones of Omaha, Nebraska; 2 granddaughters: Jennifer Sones of Arlington, Texas; Shana Sones of Beaumont, Texas; one sister Judy Meikle and her husband Lynn of Cherokee, Iowa; also nieces and nephews.
