Obituary

M. JOAN HABURN, 85 , of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022, at Accura Healthcare of Aurelia.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 10:30 a.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Pastor Barb Dinelli will officiate.  Visitation with the family present from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday at Boothby Funeral Home. Private family burial will be in the Sunset View cemetery at Washta, Iowa.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Joan was born on January 11, 1937 at Washta, Iowa to John and Gladys (Kerns) Haburn.  She attended Washta Consolidated School, graduating in 1955.   She worked for the Cherokee Co. Auditor's Office for 41 ½ years.  She retired on December 31, 1998.  After her retirement, she worked for Jack Foresman at Northwest Realty and volunteered at Cherokee Archives.

She was a member of the Washta United Methodist Church.  Joan was also a member of the Cherokee Women's Bowling Association.

She liked to go bowling, read and complete crossword puzzles.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lyle Haburn, Dean Haburn, John (Betty) Haburn, and Roger Haburn; sisters, Lola Mae, Beth (Bob) Hatch, Diane Haburn; brother-in-law, Duane Wright; and nephews Randal, Rodney, Bradley, and Bryan, and a niece, Joy.

She is survived by her sister, Sharen Wright; nephews, Cam Hatch, Lindsay Hatch, Roger (Char) Wright, David (Kristen, Wright, and Mark Haburn; nieces, Janelle (Michael) Koch and Pam Haburn; 23 great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews.
