M. LYNN HODGDON, 86, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Friday morning, June 28, 2013 at Careage Hills in Cherokee.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 2nd, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Barb Dinelli will officiate. Burial will be in the Quimby Cemetery. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Monday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Lynn was born December 20, 1926 at Paullina, Iowa to John L. and Jeanette (Koolbeck) Hodgdon. He attended school at Correctionville and later Quimby Consolidated Schools, graduating in 1945. He was married to Betty J. Flisher on August 30, 1946 in Cherokee, Iowa. Lynn farmed in Pilot Township, retiring in 2008 and had been a resident of Cherokee County all his life. He was a member of the Quimby United Methodist Church. He enjoyed search word puzzles, playing cards especially pinochle, and playing checkers with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He cherished the time spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Betty Fell.

He is survived by his wife, Betty and two children: Linda (Richard) Mansfield of LeMars, Iowa; John (Kathy) Hodgdon of Washta, Iowa; 4 grandchildren: Kirk (Paula) Mansfield, Heather (Mark) Moulton, James (Karmen) Hodgdon, Erin (Doug) Baird; 9 great grandchildren: Mitchell, Dakota, Megan, Lucas, Peyton, Madison, Josie, Jacob and Camrin; three sisters; Shirley Baldwin of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Patricia White of Sioux City, Iowa; Marlys (Paul) Nagel of Castana, Iowa; a sister-in-law Bonnie (Scrapper) Bainbridge of Cherokee, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.
