Obituary

MARCIA A. "MARTY" WARRENDER , 78, of Washta, Iowa, passed away Thursday morning, October 22, 2020 in Unity Point Health-St. Luke's in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Barb Dinelli will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset View Cemetery at Washta, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Please practice social distancing and masks will be required at the visitation and the funeral service. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com . In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Washta United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice in memory of Marty. For those unable to attend the funeral it will be live streamed on the Boothby Funeral Home website with the assistance of Fuller Digital Solutions.

Marcia Ann "Marty" was born May 16, 1942, to Otis and Dorothy (Robinson) Davis in Onawa, Iowa.  She was oldest of four and grew up in the Whiting area.  She graduated from Shelby-Tenant High School in 1960 and went on to graduate from Morningside College with a business degree.  She worked at Livestock National Bank in Sioux City prior to marriage and taught at Willow Community and River Valley Schools until her retirement. Following her retirement, she worked part-time at B & K One Stop convenience store in Washta, Iowa.

Marty married Jerry "Scotty" Warrender on December 18, 1966 at the Quimby Methodist Church.  Marty was a member of the Washta Methodist Church where she had been a lay speaker for several years, United Methodist Women, a past Washta City Council member and library board officer.  She loved reading, knitting, crochet, crafts and sewing.  She was a 4-H leader for many years at the Quimby Quorum Club.  But first and foremost she was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother who genuinely cared about those in her community and enjoyed giving to others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a great granddaughter, Angel, a brother-in-law, Lonnie Hanson and Jerry's siblings Jim, John, Alex and Mary Ann.

Marty will be missed by her husband, Jerry, their children, Heather (Scott) McClelland of Des Moines, Iowa, Bill (Tricia) of Panora, Iowa, Josh (Amy) of Denver, Colorado and Sarah of Gainesville, Florida.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Zachary, Macy and Brady McClelland, Tiffany Weis, Alexis and Evan Warrender, Lucas and Levi Tassin, Logan and Liberty Hemping and Shelby Clark, great grandchildren, Rylan Santiago, Lizabeth Weis, Leland and Finley Tassin and by her siblings Pat Hanson of Washta, Cheryl (Fritz) Schemmel of Sherman, Texas, and John (Nancy) Davis of Marion, South Dakota.
