MARGARET FASSLER, 101, of Cherokee, Iowa, formerly of Quimby, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday afternoon November 16, 2010, in the Country Side Estates at Cherokee.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 20th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Quimby Methodist Church in Quimby, Iowa. Rev. Carolyn Hollar will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Margaret was born on April 1, 1909 at Didsbury, Alberta, Canada to August & Emma (Clark) Olsen. She attended Didsbury Public Schools, then graduating from Quimby High School in 1928. After graduation, she attended Cedar Falls Teacher's College at the Le Mars Extension. She was married to Edgar Fassler on September 11, 1930 at the Quimby Methodist Church. She worked at Carnahan's Grocers for 18 months prior to her marriage, but was a home maker her whole life. She was a member of the Quimby United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Church Circle and the Quimby Senior Citizens. She enjoyed sewing, flowers, watching birds and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edgar, son Howard, a sister Blanda Hurst and two great grandsons.
She is survived by two sons: Gerald Fassler and his wife Jacqueline of Corpus Christi, Texas, James Fassler and his wife Mary Ann of Quimby, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; a daughter in law, Jolene Deichmann & her husband Irvin of Marcus; several nieces, nephews and many close friends.
