MARGARET E. STANFORD, 86, of rural Larrabee, Iowa passed away Thursday evening, March 26, 2009 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 30th, at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Jud Stover will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedar Cemetery at Larrabee, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday with the family present from

Margaret was born February 11, 1923 at Cherokee, Iowa, the only child of Matthew & Euphemia (McConnochie) Brewster. She graduated from Larrabee High School in 1942. She received her teaching certificate from Buena Vista College in 1944. She taught school from 1944 until 1949. Margaret was married to Leon R. Stanford on June 12, 1949 at Larrabee, Iowa. Her home was on a farm north of Larrabee and had been a resident of the Larrabee area all her life. She was a member of the Larrabee United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, was a lifetime Sunday School Teacher, belonged to the Larrabee Birthday Club and the Sutherland Women's Club. She enjoyed flowers and going on fishing trips with the family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two uncles.
She is survived by her husband Leon, one daughter and one son: Denise Churchman of Watauga, Texas; Doug Stanford and his wife Vicki of Cedar Falls, Iowa; 4 grandchildren: Matthew Stanford and his fiance Cindy; Jason Stanford and his wife Kristin; Amy Stanford and Emily Churchman; one great grandson Jackson Stanford.
