Obituary

MARIAN LUCILLE (CASEY) LUNDQUIST, 95, of Cherokee, died peacefully at Countryside Estates in Cherokee on Monday, May 18, 2009.

A celebration of Marian's life will be held Friday, May 29th, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. at the Church on Friday. There will be no visitation. Private interment will be held at later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Cherokee Regional Medical Center Hospice.

Marian was born December 22, 1913 in Cherokee County, Iowa near Larrabee, the daughter of the late Melvin and Maude (Dunkelberger) Casey. She graduated from Larrabee High School following by nurses training in Sioux City, Iowa. She was married to Levi Lundquist on January 15, 1935. They lived most of their married life farming north of Aurelia. After Levi's death, she moved to a house in Cherokee. Most recently she made her home at Countryside Estates.

Marian was a supportive wife and mother. She loved gardening, cooking and baking, entertaining, traveling and walking. Most of all, she loved her family. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and the Sunshine Circle. In earlier years, she had been active in Friendship Club, ACC, Farm Bureau, a special Birthday Club, golf, and bridge groups. She also used her nursing skills as a nurse's aide at Sunset Knoll in Aurelia.

She was preceded in death by her husband Levi in 1978; her parents, Melvin and Maude Casey; three brothers Wayne, Freeman, and William Casey; two sisters-in-law Mae Casey and Hilda Casey.

She is survived by son Robert (Joanne) Lundquist of Cherokee, Iowa; daughter Mary Louise (Carl) Gustafson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and son Charles (Sylvia) Lundquist of Aurelia, Iowa; 8 grandchildren (Allan, John, Kent, Craig, Kristin, Karen, Jeffrey, and Deborah); 14 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law Mildred Casey of Cherokee, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and friends.
