MARIAN E. SEARS, 95, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Friday afternoon, November 2, 2012 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 5th, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Carolyn Hollar will officiate. Burial will be in the Galva Township Cemetery at Galva, Iowa. Visitation will be on Sunday from 11 a.m. until

Marian was born on July 7, 1917 at Galva, Iowa to Jesse & Laura (Jensen) Herron. She graduated from Galva High School in 1936. She was married to Cecil Sears on June 30, 1937 at Mapleton, Iowa. She enjoyed raising her four children and helping out with the work on the farm. Marian was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church where she was active in church circles and a faithful volunteer. She had been a resident of Cherokee since 1974 and prior to this lived on a farm in Pilot Township. She had many hobbies, including sewing teddy bears, crafts, ceramics, garage sales, and loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cecil on August 24, 1979, an infant son, one brother Francis Herron and his wife Blanche, a sister Marcella Herron, and a sister in infancy.

She is survived by her four children: Gerald (Nancy) Sears of Cherokee, Iowa; James Sears of Denver, Colorado; Dorothy (Paul) McGee of Cherokee, Iowa; Carol (Don) Fiser of Quimby, Iowa; 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren: Allan (Janette) Sears and children Kelsey & Colin of Cleghorn, Iowa; Christina Sears and friend Ryan and children Hanna, Cody & Connor of Cherokee, Iowa; Jeffrey (Paula) Sears and children Ryan & Braydon of Solon, Iowa; Janna Sears and friend Val of Washta, Iowa; Denise Sears and friend Roger May and children Anthony, Aaron & Taylar of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Lori (Brian) McIntosh and children Zachary & Carson of Ocoee, Florida; Sonya (Bill) Warrender and children Alexis & Evan of Des Moines, Iowa; Malinda Fiser and children Myranda & Sheldyn of Sioux City, Iowa; a sister-in-law Patricia Sears of Normal, Illinois.
