MARILYN R. MILLER, 74, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at the St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 13th, at 11 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Ethan Sayler and Mr. Ron Brown will officiate. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home on Friday. Visitation will be on Thursday from
1 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Cremation will take place following the services. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Marilyn was born on September 14, 1938 at Linden, Iowa to Jacob & Jennie (Samuell) Miller. She graduated from Menlo High School in 1957. She was married to Merrill Tutt on October 26,1957 at Storm Lake, Iowa. While living in Linden she operated a bar and restaurant called The Country Lounge. She later married Marvin A. Miller on March 6, 1982 at Cherokee, Iowa. She owned and operated the M&M Sweet Shop in Cherokee for several years. She was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. Marilyn enjoyed baking, sending cookings overseas to our Veterans, volunteering with the Cherokee Chamber and the Girl Scouts. She also enjoyed being active in many civic organizations and community projects.
She was preceded in death by her father Jacob Miller, her two husbands Merrill Tutt on November 2, 1981 and Marvin A. Miller on December 31, 1993 and an infant son Michel Tutt in 1960.
She is survived by her mother Jennie Miller of Stuart, Iowa; her brother Jacob Miller of Stuart, Iowa; three children: Melinda (Ron) Rosewall of Marcus, Iowa; Bernie (Dawn) Tutt of Akron, Iowa; Rashel Nixon of Cherokee, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren: Jacob Rosewall, Jessica Rosewall, Lacei LaPointe, Niki LaPointe, LaMeika LaPointe, Anastasia Tutt and her children Bruce and Adian, Michael Tutt, Brandon Tutt, Nicholas Tutt, Brianna Nixon and and William Nixon.
