Obituary

MARJORIE K. MAHN, 87 of Cherokee & Alta, Iowa, went to be with the Lord, Friday morning, April 22, 2011.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26th at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee with a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Pastor Jon Riggert will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Aurelia, Iowa. Visitation will be on Monday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Marjorie was born on December 18, 1923 to Henry & Elsie (Grienke) Sievert at Galva, Iowa. Marjorie was baptized on April 20, 1924 in Galva and was confirmed on March 21, 1937 in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. She graduated from Cherokee Wilson High School in 1941and subsequently worked for the gas company in Cherokee reading meters. Marjorie was united in marriage to LeRoy Mahn on September 21, 1949 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. She worked in the admitting office at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital for many years. Marjorie was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and sang in the Church Choir. In her early years, she was a member of the Walther League and enjoyed presenting Chalk Talks. Later in life, she liked going to household sales, raising chickens, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband LeRoy in 1976, brother-in-law Donald Guest and several other brothers-in law and sisters-in-law on her husband's side.

She is survived by her two sons: Theodore "Ted" Mahn and his wife Pamela of Hot Springs, Arkansas; Michael Mahn and his wife Diane of Auburn, Iowa; 3 grandchildren: Chad Wheatley and his wife Cristen of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Stephanie Pyke and her husband Brettan of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Stacey Mahn and her fiancé Bryant Holt of Seward, Nebraska; 2 great grandchildren: Cameron & Casidy and one on the way; a sister Violet Guest of Cherokee, Iowa.
