Obituary

MARLENE M.  WITCOMBE , 80, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Friday evening, September 27, 2019 at Unity Point Health-St. Luke's in Sioux City, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 9 th , at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Cris Decious will officiate. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. at the church on Wednesday. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 8 th , from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral in Cherokee, Iowa. Marlene was born on September 18, 1939 at Sanborn, Iowa to John and Ann (Kreykes) Victoria. She attended Sanborn High School until her senior year when she moved to Mason City, Iowa where she graduated in 1958. She attended North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City for two years obtaining her medical secretary degree. She was married to Donald L. Witcombe on September 12, 1965 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Mason City.

Marlene worked as a medical secretary in Mason City for a few years and then at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee for two years and then for Dr. Thomas M. Gary for 37 years, retiring in 2004.

She was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee. She enjoyed baking, shopping, QVC, and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Ann Victoria, an infant sister Gloria Victoria, a brother Clint Victoria, and a sister-in-law Sue Victoria

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Donald of Cherokee, Iowa; two sons: Thomas "T.J." Witcombe of Cherokee, Iowa and his special friend Misty Zupp; Charles C. Witcombe and his wife Denise of Victoria, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Jacob Witcombe of Cherokee, Iowa; Elizabeth and Luciana Witcombe of Victoria, Minnesota; a brother: Doug Victoria of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; a sister: Jacque (Chuck) Comstock of Sanborn, Iowa; a sister-in-law: Sheri Victoria of Cedar Falls, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
