MARLIN G. SEEL, 79, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 25th, at 10 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Leroy Riemer will officiate. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Marcus, Iowa.There will be a family prayer service at 9:45 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa with the family present from 6p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Marlin was born October 3, 1929 at Marcus, Iowa to Adam Seel Jr. and Agnes (Thias) Seel. He graduated from Cleghorn High School in 1948. He was married to Dorothy Cline on September 4, 1949 in Cherokee, Iowa. He had farmed from 1948 until 1998 and then operated a yard mowing service. He had lived in Cherokee since 1993. He had also resided in rural Remsen from 1950 until 1958 and rural Marcus from 1959 until 1993. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. He had served on the Marcus Fair Board, former AAL President and served on the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Board of rural Marcus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Ronald in 1968 and a brother Marvin Seel
in 1999.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, four children: Lynn Walker and her husband Dick of Johnston, Iowa; Marla Essick and her husband Steve of Cherokee, Iowa; John Seel and his wife Kim of Cherokee, Iowa; Roger Seel and his wife Peggy of Cherokee, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; a sister Erna Nelson and her husband Nels of Cannon Falls, Minnesota; a sister-in-law Evelyn Seel of Cherokee, Iowa; several other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of Dorothy's family, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
