Obituary

MARY ANN LUDVIGSON FASSLER, 75, of rural Quimby, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 at Careage Hills in Cherokee, Iowa following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 24th at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa Rev. Carolyn Hollar will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday. Visitation will be on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Mary Ann was the third child of Clarence and LaVerna (LaFrentz) Ludvigson born November 19, 1937 in Cushing, Iowa. She attended country school through the third grade at which time she entered Washta Consolidated School, graduating in May of 1955. Following graduation Mary Ann worked for one year in Sioux City before moving to Cherokee where she worked at Iowa Electric Light and Power until her marriage to James Fassler on June 21, 1960. The couple had five children.

Mary Ann was the Sunday School Superintendent at Quimby United Methodist Church for many years and was active in Vacation Bible School program. She also helped found the Camp Fire Girls and Bluebird Club when her daughters were younger. She enjoyed crafts of many sorts, reading and studying her Bible.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, father and mother-in-law Edgar and Margaret Fassler, grandsons Christian & Lane Huth, brother Kenny Ludvigson, brother-in-law Howard Fassler, and nephew Leif Ludvigson.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years James Fassler of Quimby; children Robin Theisen of LeMars; Ricky Fassler of Quimby; Rhonda Fassler of Quimby; Roxanne Huth of Kingsley; Renae Fassler and special friend Wayne Monroe of Ida Grove; eight grandchildren; Emily & Kyle Theisen of LeMars; Paige, Carly & Reid Huth of Kingsley. Dylan Fassler, Kaylee and Austin Monroe of Ida Grove; brothers: Franklin (Kathy) Ludvigson of Paullina; Virgil Ludvigson of Washta; sisters: Shirley (Howard) McCoy of Quimby; Annabelle (Chuck) Prunty of Cherokee; brother-in-law Gerald (Jackie) Fassler of Corpus Christie, Texas; sisters-in-law; Kathleen Ludvigson of Washta; Jolene (Irvin) Deichmann of Marcus; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
