Obituary

MARY E. LAMPMAN , 89 of Cherokee, Iowa, formerly of Lakefield, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday morning, July 22, 2020 at Accura Healthcare in Aurelia, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 25 th , at 10:30 a.m. at the Lakefield United Methodist Church in Lakefield, Minnesota. Rev. Robert Moorlach will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Lakefield, MN. Please abide by the social distancing guidelines and masks are required. Mary E. Lampman, daughter of August Sr. and Ludmilla (Mosley) Hromatka was born on September 19, 1930 at Jackson, Minnesota. She attended country school and graduated from Lakefield High School in 1947. She was married to Scott D. Lampman on September 4, 1952 at the Methodist parsonage in Lakefield, MN.

She had worked for the Lakefield Standard Newspaper for 8 years, Land O' Lakes plant, Merv Cross Insurance Agency, and Sears Catalog Store. She sold Avon and was a bus driver for the Lakefield School system for 26 years. She retired on July 1, 1999 to stay home and take care of her husband Scott. Mary moved to Cherokee in April of 2017 to reside in The Gardens Assisted Living.

Mary was a member of the Lakefield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years, playing Scrabble, cribbage, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, having coffee with friends, watching the Minnesota Vikings, and of course playing Bingo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Scott on November 7, 2006, an infant sister Margaret Hromatka, brother August "Bud" Hromatka Jr., sisters-in-law Miriam Hohmeister and Florence "Winky" Sorensen, brothers-in-law Glenn Berg, Axel Sorensen and Walter Schultz, and a great grandson Wyatt Scott Sumner.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Peggy Ann (Jim) Corrington of Cherokee, Iowa, Rose Mary and (William) Slater of Hot Springs, South Dakota, two grandchildren, Thomas (Elizabeth) Corrington of St. Joseph, Missouri and Melanie (Matthew) Sumner and their daughter Wrenly of Guthrie, Oklahoma, sister Gladys Schultz of Lakefield, Minnesota, brother-in-law Walter Hohmeister of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
