MARY J. (SMITH) LUNDELL,79, longtime rural Cleghorn, Iowa resident, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, November 7, 2011.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 11th, at 11 a.m. at the Oakdale Evangelical Free Church at rural Meriden, Iowa. Pastor Clint Hogrefe will officiate. Burial will be prior to the service on Friday morning at 10:15 a.m. at the Liberty Township Cemetery, rural Meriden, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at the church at 10:45 a.m. on Friday. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until

Mary was born on September 26, 1932 on a farm near Cleghorn, Iowa to Darwin & Elizabeth (Kinzel) Smith. She attended school in Cleghorn, graduating in 1951. She was united in marriage to Richard E. Lundell on January 6, 1952 at the Cleghorn Christian Church. They farmed north of Cleghorn until Richard's death in 1994.
Mary was a member of the Oakdale Evangelical Free Church, The White Cross, Ladies Aid, and helped for many years in the children's department on Wednesday nights. Mary loved shopping with her grandkids and playing games. She enjoyed getting together with her lady friends for lunch and birthday get togethers. She also enjoyed the short time living at The Beck in Cherokee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on August 1, 1994, a son-in-law Tim Willis; a grandson Christopher Willis; two brothers: Robert Smith, Milton Smith and his wife Wilma; two sisters: Marjorie Parker and her husband Roger, Lois McGowan and her husband Mac; one sister-in-law Phyllis Smith.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Dan (Lyn) Lundell of Meriden, Iowa; Bruce Lundell and his fiance Tiffany of Cleghorn, Iowa; Pam (Jon) Vander Ploeg of Paullina, Iowa; Becky Willis of Gilbert, Arizona; 9 grandchildren: Jennifer & Matt Regas, Amanda & Kurt Ruden, Jeff & Cassidy Lundell, Morgan Lundell, Ryan & Kassi Vander Ploeg, Cory & Chrysta Vander Ploeg, Nathaniel, Brandon, and Kayla Willis; four great grandchildren: John and Alexa Regas, Michael and Shanna Ruden; two brothers: Francis Smith of Cleghorn, Iowa; Donald (Delores) Smith of Aurelia, Iowa; two sisters: Betty Wykoff and her companion Roger Baker of Mesa, Arizona, Iris (Lyle) Schmillen of Seal Beach, California; a sister-in-law: Betty Smith of Cherokee, Iowa; also many nieces, nephews and special friends.
