Obituary

Mary Celine Pedersen May 26, 1937 – September 15, 2025

Mary Celine Pedersen, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88.

Born in Atlantic, Iowa, to Cecil and Agnes Krohn, Celine spent her early years in Remsen, Iowa, where her father worked as a typesetter and her mother as a nurse. After the passing of her father when she was just 11, Celine was raised by her mother and stepfather, Eddie Ruden in Remsen.

On September 4, 1956, Celine married the love of her life, John Robert Pedersen. Together, they made their home in Marcus, Iowa, where they raised four children and built a life centered around family, faith, and community.

Inspired by her mother's example, Celine pursued a career in nursing, earning her credentials as both an LPN and RN. She was a dedicated and compassionate caregiver, known for her gentle touch and unwavering commitment to those in need. Her impact extended far beyond the hospital, as she brought comfort and kindness to everyone she met.

Celine was also a gifted seamstress whose creations were cherished by family and friends. Her talents were matched by her zest for life—she enjoyed bowling, camping, crafting, and playing cards with her beloved card club. Her joyful spirit and warm laughter made every gathering brighter.

Above all, Celine cherished her family. Her home was a haven of love and togetherness, and she took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was a constant source of support, wisdom, and unconditional love.

Celine was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, John; her parents, Agnes and Cecil; her stepfather, Eddie Ruden, sister, Patricia Brady, son-in-law Garry Reavis and daughter-in-law Danielle Pedersen.

She is survived by her children:

· Michael (Kim) Pedersen of Paullina, IA, and their sons Joseph, Matt (Jennifer), and Cody

· Barb (Larry) Gosnell of Fort Worth, TX, and their children Andy (Rosa) Gosnell and Madysen (RJ) Jay

· Teresa Reavis-Wiethorn (Don Wiethorn) of Fort Worth, TX, and sons Ryan and Nathan (Brittanie) Reavis

· Jeff (Laura) Pedersen of Sioux City, IA, and their children Nicole (Gabriel Arevalo), Thomas (Amanda) Brophy, and Becca (Hunter) White

· Chosen daughter Meg (Dale) Brady of Denver IA and their sons Kory (Sarah) Brady and Keith (Kailee) Brady

She is also survived by her sister Rosy Schmidt of Remsen, IA, and sister-in-law Mary Pedersen of Des Moines and many great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild all of whom she loved dearly and who loved her in return.

A special mention goes to Deb Gallas of Marcus, IA, a faithful friend who was like family to Celine and brought joy and companionship throughout the years.

Celine's legacy of love, kindness, and creativity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
