MARY LUELLA SCHOLL, 90, of Donna, Texas, passed away Monday, May 18, 2009.
Mary Luella was born on January 24, 1919 at Afton Township, Iowa to Lealand D. & Margretta J. (Doupe) Loucks. She graduated from Cherokee Wilson High School in 1937. Marylou was married to Robert R. "Bus" Smith in 1938. She was later married to John R. Anderson in 1947, married to Lloyd Scheetz in 1981 and then married to Harvey Scholl in 1988. She was affiliated with the United Methodist Church. She had been a resident of Magnolia Park in Donna, Texas the past 30 years and prior to this had lived in Sioux City, Storm Lake, and was originally from Cherokee. She would spend her summers with her youngest daughter Lorie Allen in DeKalb, Texas. Marylu enjoyed bowling, playing cards, crafts and reading. Crafts brought her the most joy, because she was able to give away her creations to others. She spent most of her life as a home-maker carrying out one of God's commissions: being a loving mother to six children, and a grandmother to seventeen grandchildren. She was also blessed to have many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her four husbands, two brothers Robert and Joe Loucks, and one sister Evelyn Anderson.
She is survived by her six children: Roger W. (Jan) Smith of Laguna Vista, Texas; Marjorie J. (Don) Soole of Donna, Texas; Jane E. (Don) Mittlestadt of Milford, Iowa; Lealand G. (Sue) Anderson of Dallas Center, Iowa; John R. (Kaye) Anderson of Boone, Iowa; Lorie L. Allen of DeKalb, Texas; seventeen grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws Avis Berry of Cambridge, Minnesota; Marion Fischer of Lancaster, California; also several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends
Services were held at the First Baptist Church in Donna, Texas.
Graveside memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 21st at 1 p.m. at the Afton Township Cemetery at rural Cherokee, Iowa. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee is in charge of the local arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
