MAXINE DEASON, 93, of Aurelia, Iowa, passed away Monday morning, April 3rd, 2017 in the Sunset Knoll Care & Rehab Center at Aurelia, Iowa.
At her request her body was donated to the University of Iowa for anatomical research to benefit others. A private burial will be held at a later date. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Maxine was born in Sioux City, Iowa, April 22, 1923 and graduated from Iowa Central High School in 1941 and Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1945. She was employed at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and taught school in Council Bluffs and Aurelia, Iowa. She was a Girl Scout Leader and 4-H Leader in Sioux City and Cherokee County and was active in First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, Iowa.
She was married to Bob Deason on June 5, 1946. They lived in Columbia, Missouri, Ida Grove, Odebolt, Sioux City and Aurelia, Iowa. When they retired in 1985, they enjoyed many winters in Tempe, Arizona. Bob died on March 18, 2001.
Proceeding Maxine in death were her husband, her parents: Harry and Myrtle Traynor and her birth mother, Cecelia Swanson Schnuckel and her husband, Charles; two sisters-in-law Lois Deason and Grace Knight.
Maxine and Bob were proud parents of three sons and a daughter who survive: John and Carolyn Deason of Muscatine; Dwight and Berniece Deason of Urbandale; Dennis Deason of Aurelia and Win Dell'Ario of Half Moon Bay, California; one grandson, Jay and Tina Grimes and children Caleb and Quinleigh; one granddaughter Carmen O'Handley and daughter Gabriella. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Margaret Johnson and Norma Ruth Deason of Albany, Missouri.
