Melvin H. Zollman, 84, of Cherokee, Iowa, formerly of Quimby, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Careage Hills Nursing Home in Cherokee, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a service at 6:30 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. A private family burial will be held at the Grandview Cemetery in Quimby, Iowa. Melvin was born on July 15, 1939 to Hubert Abner and Ilene Wilma (Stevens) Zollman in Sac County, Iowa.  He graduated from Sac City High School in 1958.  He worked at the Creamery and Noble's in Sac City before working at Wilson Foods from 1965 until his retirement in 2007. He was united in marriage to Alta Penniman on June 3, 1967 in Elk Point, South Dakota.

Melvin was a part of the Friends of Conservation group and enjoyed attending Pheasants Forever events.

Melvin enjoyed prairie dog hunting, tractor pulls, and could always be found enjoying coffee with his friends at the Country Store in Cherokee.  A highlight for Melvin was riding along with son, Bill Zollman and Lyle Paulsen for long trips in the semi truck.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Alta Zollman, his parents Hubert and Ilene Zollman, grandson, Dustin Todd, great grandson, Dylan Schleef, and his beloved dogs, Chico, Dexter and Duster.
Melvin is survived by his six children: Vicki (Todd) Rubendall of Sac City, Iowa; Bill Zollman (Darlene Stieneke) of Washta, Iowa; Amy (Brad) Amick of Cherokee, Iowa; Scott (Sheila) Zollman of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Sue (Charlie) Todd of Washta, Iowa; Debbie (Brett) Schillinger of Baldwin, Wisconsin; grandchildren: Tara (Wade) Volkert, Megan Heubrock, Miles Zollman, Jamie (Kassie) Klaschen, Coy (McKenzie) Zollman, Earnie Harden, Lee Harden,  Starla (Robert) Inman, Leah Forbes, Lakel (Aaron) Padilla, Laken Zollman, Regan (Dale) Gerstenkorn, Nathan Zollman, Molly Todd,  Britney Todd (Mark Schleef), Paige Korver (Jesse Bogenrief), and Alex Korver; great grandchildren: Tyler, Gracie, Keegan, Kadyn, Kayleigh, Brooke, Colton, Brynleigh, Macey, Holdan, Bennet, Skylar, Bradley, Jozzlin, Braella, Ozzton, James, Haley, Dazsha, Makala, Marley, Landon, Kimber, and Dakota; great great granddaughter Stella; sister Naomi (Merle) Witzke; brothers-in-law: Robert (Brigetta) Penniman, Mike (Susie) Penniman,  Fred Penniman, and Larry Ladwig; cousins Collette Oliver, Morris (Holly) Schertz, Lynette (Roger) Radke, Barb Johnson, David (Lynne) Weltzheimer; also many nieces and nephews.
